Panasonic Lumix G1

Post  GrumpyBodger on Tue Feb 17, 2009 1:40 pm

Hi,

I'm seriously thinking about buying one of those camera kits with both lenses.
I think that Jessops do the best deal?
I'd like to hear the oppinions of all you Photographers.

Thanks

well its not a true DSLR, smaller than the standard sized of them now,
but some cool features. the flip out screen like a video camera is dead
cool!

here are some trusted reviews :

if you do go for it, Jessops might be the place to get it from, tho
they may be cheapest for now, with there bad financial situation, u may
not get any support if it go's wrong, i'd have to stay thats the most
important thing. My parents got my DSLR for me at john lewis, as
they're customer service is amazing, not the cheapest, but it was what
i wanted and i'm not worried to take it back even if it's out of warranty.

let me know of your choice, and how u get on

It's here, arrived at the weekend; well chuffed.
light & feels good. Fairly simple to find your way around although the book of words does take a lot of things for granted.
They don't make things easy for us ol' buggers do they.
The rotating screen is great, one of the reasons for buying because my first digital camera is a Nikon coolpix S4 which has a swiveling lens & is something I've come to appreciate.
The digital realtime viewfinder is however a big +
Now I will be able see what I'm photographing in bright daylight (when one of those days comes along).
I went for the twin lens package due to the cash saving (Yes I've learned some female logic)
Both lenses have limited max. aperture at f3.5 & f4.5 respectively but having a focal length range from 28 to 400mm (as in 35mm Cameras) I'm well covered for practically anything I will want to do.
Still got a lot of knobs to twiddle & a load more destructions to decipher. Will probably get down to taking some pictures before the end of the year Very Happy

Cheers
John
